As a Safety Inspector on S & B construction projects, your primary responsibility is to provide safety auditing and inspection services under the guidance of the Field Safety Manager. Your key duties include assisting in achieving Zero Accidents, preventing LTA's, and ensuring compliance with OSHA record-keeping regulations and industry safety best practices. You will report to the Safety Supervisor or Field Safety Manager, and collaborate with the Health and Safety Coordinator and/or Safety Manager based on site requirements. Additionally, you must be certified as an EMT, EMT-P, or 1st aid responder, and be proficient in maintaining medical supplies, conducting random drug screens, and providing care for injured employees. Your role will involve coordinating with the company doctor for the proper care of injured employees, transporting them to and from appointments, and maintaining first aid logs. In case of safety breaches or hazardous situations, you are expected to notify your supervisor promptly. Moreover, you should be knowledgeable about safety-related codes, disaster drills, and emergency plans. Your language skills should enable you to communicate effectively with clients, customers, and fellow employees. Furthermore, you must have basic mathematical abilities for tasks like computing measurements and percentages. The physical demands of the job include standing, walking on various surfaces, and occasionally carrying injured individuals over short distances. The work environment may vary between indoor and outdoor settings, with set hours typically ranging from 9 to 12 hours per day, subject to different shift patterns. Punctuality, adherence to safety protocols, and responsiveness to changing project needs are essential for success in this role.
