We have been mandated by a large conglomerate for the below mentioned role. Role & responsibilities Job Title: Head HR IR (Plant) Department: Human Resources Location : [Plant Location, e.g., Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh ] Reports To: CHRO Job Purpose: To lead and manage the Human Resource and Industrial Relations functions at the plant level, ensuring strategic alignment with business goals, compliance with labour laws, harmonious industrial relations, and robust people management practices in a heavy manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Human Resource Management: Develop and implement plant-specific HR strategies aligned with corporate HR policies and business objectives. Manpower planning, recruitment, onboarding, and deployment of plant personnel (blue-collar and white-collar). Design and drive employee engagement initiatives to improve morale, productivity, and retention. Performance Management: Facilitate the PMS cycle and ensure alignment with KRAs. Training & Development: Identify skill gaps and coordinate technical and behavioural training interventions. Compensation & Benefits: Oversee payroll, statutory benefits, and incentive programs. Industrial Relations: Ensure harmonious industrial relations by maintaining proactive and constructive relationships with unions and workmen. Handle collective bargaining, long-term settlements, and negotiations with trade unions. Administer disciplinary procedures, domestic inquiries, and grievance redressal mechanisms. Ensure timely compliance with applicable labour laws (Factories Act, ID Act, etc.). Engage with local government bodies and labour departments to manage compliance, inspections, and liaison. Legal & Compliance: Ensure adherence to all labour laws and statutory obligations such as PF, ESI, Gratuity, Bonus, etc. Conduct audits and ensure legal risk mitigation at the plant. Maintain up-to-date documentation for licenses, permits, and labour compliances. Plant Administration: Oversee general administration including canteen, transport, security, and housekeeping. Ensure EHS compliance in collaboration with Safety & Plant Ops teams. Key Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of labour laws and IR practices. Proven experience in managing unions and labour negotiations. Ability to drive change and HR transformation. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills. Strategic thinking with operational excellence. Qualifications & Experience: MBA / PGDM in HR or equivalent from a reputed institute. 18+ ears of experience in HR & IR, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in a plant environment. Experience in steel / metals / heavy engineering / process industry preferred. Working Conditions: Full-time, based at plant location. May require extended working hours during union negotiations, audits, or critical business periods.
