You will be responsible for accurately coding medical records using ICD-10-CM codes based on HCC guidelines, ensuring completeness, correctness, and compliance with CMS standards. Your day-to-day tasks will include reviewing medical records for appropriate coding, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and regulations, working closely with healthcare providers to clarify coding issues, and participating in coding accuracy audits. To excel in this role, you must have proficiency in ICD-10-CM coding and familiarity with HCC guidelines. You should possess the ability to review and code medical records accurately, knowledge of CMS standards and compliance requirements, strong attention to detail and analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and certification from a recognized coding certification body (e.g., AAPC or AHIMA). Previous experience in medical coding, especially in HCC, is a plus. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively are also desirable qualities for this position.
