As an Special Educator at Podar ORT International School (IB) in Worli, Mumbai, your primary responsibility will be to support students with learning differences, disabilities, or exceptionalities. You will be required to conduct assessments to identify their support needs and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or Student Support Plans (SSPs). In addition, you will provide in-class support, pull-out sessions, or one-on-one interventions tailored to each student's needs, utilizing assistive technology and differentiated instruction strategies as necessary. Collaboration with classroom teachers is essential in this role. You will work closely with teachers to differentiate instruction and assessment strategies, co-plan, and co-teach to ensure the inclusion of all learners. Providing resources and professional development to staff on inclusive education practices will also be part of your responsibilities. It is crucial to align all support provided with the philosophy, assessment criteria, and learning outcomes of the IB Programme (PYP, MYP, or DP). You will contribute to unit planning with an inclusion perspective and ensure that accommodations and modifications are IB-compliant, especially for assessments like eAssessments, ePortfolios, and DP exams. Engaging with families and the community is another vital aspect of the role. You will communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and support strategies, participate in meetings with parents and external professionals, and facilitate transitions between year levels and/or programmes. Maintaining up-to-date records of student support plans, assessments, and progress reports, as well as ensuring compliance with IB Access and Inclusion Policy and relevant national/international laws, are also part of your duties. You will assist in IB evaluation and authorization visits by providing documentation and evidence of inclusive practices. To be successful in this position, you are required to have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Inclusive Education, or a related field, along with certification or training in Special Needs Education. Previous experience working in inclusive/international/IB school settings is preferred. A strong understanding of differentiation, universal design for learning (UDL), and multisensory instructional strategies is essential for this role.,
