The Lead Platform Engineer at Mastercard is responsible for managing databases to ensure secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure and software deployment for global solutions. This role involves administering production, pre-production, UAT, and development database systems, as well as collaborating with system engineers, database developers, and other administrators to create a robust, scalable, and high-performance environment. The Lead Platform Engineer will contribute to strategic architectural decisions and engineering functions, with a focus on Oracle and PostgreSql knowledge. They should excel in performance tuning, possess deep knowledge of PostgreSql performance tuning, Oracle GoldenGate, and Oracle multi-tenant architecture. Additionally, the role requires hands-on experience in configuring, patching, upgrading, and optimizing database software, collaborating with development teams, ensuring security, backup/recovery, and more. Key responsibilities include setting up and troubleshooting PostgreSql database replication, working with technology teams on database technologies, monitoring and resolving database issues, and communicating solutions effectively. The Lead Platform Engineer should also be adept at handling large projects, promoting best practices, training team members, and fostering a positive culture within the Database Engineering department. Furthermore, the successful candidate must abide by Mastercard's security policies, ensure the confidentiality and integrity of accessed information, report any security breaches, and undergo periodic security trainings. Desirable knowledge and experience include integrating vendor and open-source products, working with cloud-hosted services like AWS and Azure, and familiarity with various database technologies such as Cassandra, Redis, and Oracle Exadata Administration. Experience in both RDBMS and NoSQL technologies, as well as development with new trends, is advantageous for this role.,
