The Director, Project Engineering will be based in Hyderabad and will report to the Vice President, Design & Engineering. You will lead a team of 50+ members including Structural, Geotechnical, Civil, Performance, and CAD Engineers. Your primary responsibility will be to make decisions related to Design & Engineering for Nextracker's projects. This includes tasks such as site plans, mechanical sheet sets, foundation drawings, wind loading analysis, value engineering, and other design or engineering tasks to support project quoting and execution phases. You will work closely with key accounts globally and manage day-to-day issues on utility-scale PV projects from development to construction support. Collaboration with engineering teams in the US and India, as well as Sales, Project Management, and R&D teams, will be essential. Your role will involve managing a team that produces civil, structural, and mechanical design documentation, including drawings, calculations, and product selection. You will oversee the structural and foundation design of PV trackers, topography and hydrology analysis, tracker placement, and project development phases. Customer-facing representation for all engineering and technical aspects will be part of your responsibilities. Conducting value engineering exercises to reduce project costs, providing construction support, and coordinating with engineering teams globally will also be key tasks. Required qualifications for this position include an M.S/M.Tech in Civil/Structuctural/Mechanical Engineering from a premium institute, a minimum of 15+ years of relevant work experience in Project Engineering within the Renewable industry, exposure to managing large global teams of Civil/Structural designers, and thorough knowledge of engineering codes and methodologies. Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil, STAAD, and LPile is preferred, as well as experience with programming, software, and automation. You are an experienced Civil 3D Modeler who will be part of our design team responsible for creating and updating detailed civil infrastructure models and drawings, including pipelines, roads, grading, and utility networks. Your proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, attention to detail, and capacity to work independently while adhering to client standards are crucial for this role. Your responsibilities will include preparing and updating plan/profile drawings for various elements such as roads, pipelines, grading, and terrain using Civil 3D. You will be involved in developing terrain models, stormwater management layouts, and conducting hydrology analysis. Additionally, you will design pressure and gravity-based pipe networks, utilize corridor modeling for road and grading design, and produce detailed construction drawings ensuring compliance with project specifications. Integrating Civil 3D models with Revit, Plant 3D, and other BIM tools will also be part of your tasks. Your expertise in annotation styles, surfaces, alignments, profiles, feature lines, and volume calculations will be essential. Attending client meetings, providing project updates, and supporting project leads are some of the collaborative aspects of this role. To qualify for this position, you should hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering (preferred) with 0-2 years of relevant experience. Key Responsibilities The successful applicant will be responsible for: Leading and managing comprehensive water resource management studies for mining projects, from conceptual design through to implementation and optimization. Utilizing advanced modeling and simulation tools to assess water-related risks and evaluate mitigation strategies, enabling data-driven decision-making for global project teams. Evaluating tailings dam integrity, including dam break scenario modeling using computer-aided simulation tools. Conducting hydrological studies involving desk-based research, conceptual and analytical assessments, numerical modeling, and uncertainty analysis for input and output data. Performing storm analysis, hydraulic computations, and 1D/2D hydraulic simulations to estimate flood risks and support flood mitigation planning. Leading the design of mine water management infrastructure, from feasibility studies to detailed civil engineering design stages. Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the GCC-IN team, fostering professional development and contributing to knowledge sharing. Preparing detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations to support global project teams. Supporting project management responsibilities such as report and proposal preparation, team coordination, and technical oversight. Key Competencies Mandatory Skills Demonstrated experience in flood-related studies for environmental assessments and infrastructure design, with a strong focus on Mining, Water, and Urban Development sectors . Minimum 10 years of professional experience in water resources engineering. Strong knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality modeling practices. Familiarity with International guidelines is preferred. Proficiency in hydrology and hydraulic modeling software such as TUFLOW, ICM, HEC-RAS , and GIS tools (e.g., QGIS ). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with proven ability to apply them to international water resource challenges. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with diverse, multidisciplinary global teams. Desired Skills Proven track record of successfully delivering water-related projects on schedule and within budget. Experience in meeting the technical and programmatic needs of international clients and projects. Recognized technical expertise in civil/water resources engineering, ideally with experience supporting mining operations outside of India. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams of water resources engineers in a remote support model. Capacity to challenge conventional approaches and introduce innovation in day-to-day technical work. Qualifications Master's or Ph.D. degree in Water Resources Engineering or a related discipline (preferred). Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in water resources engineering. International project experience is strongly preferred.
