Within the Technology team at Goldman Sachs, our engineers are tasked with solving the most complex problems by developing cutting-edge systems and processes that are integral to our core businesses. Our work enables seamless transactions in milliseconds, provides real-time access to essential deal information, and processes billions of data points daily to generate firm-wide market insights and strategies. As part of the HCM Technology global team, we are responsible for researching, designing, testing, and building world-class applications and practices that enhance the Goldman Sachs People Function. Collaborating closely with the business, our team addresses critical challenges using the latest web technology stacks, incorporating machine learning/data analytics, and fostering a culture of quality software engineering. We are currently seeking a Java Developer (up to 4 years of experience) with the following responsibilities: - Designing and developing applications using Java/J2EE technologies. - Working on a SOA platform and staying updated with the latest web technologies. - Adhering to firm-prescribed SDLC guidelines. - Conducting business and functional analysis of applications. - Providing support for application development within a globally distributed team. Key Interpersonal Skills for this role include: - A keen interest in both technology and business. - Effective communication with managers and team members across different regions. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - High motivation, initiative-taking ability, and the aptitude to work independently. - Understanding and articulating the functional and technical impact of any change. The ideal candidate will possess the following Technical Skills: - Strong understanding of Java/J2EE concepts. - Experience with ORM frameworks (e.g., Hibernate/Mybatis). - Basic knowledge of Web services and SOA architecture. - Proficiency in Web technologies (e.g., Angular/JavaScript/jQuery). - Familiarity with Database concepts and the ability to write basic to medium complex queries. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Preferred qualifications include experience with HR systems. The ideal candidate should hold a BE/M Tech degree with up to 4 years of experience in Java/J2EE development.
