Role & responsibilities The In-charge of Control Group for Hull/Steel Fabrication oversees all control activities within the hull/steel fabrication department. This role is critical in ensuring that steel structures and hull components are fabricated in compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and project timelines. Reporting directly to the Head of Hull/Steel Fabrication, the role includes project planning, monitoring, quality control, and adherence to regulatory standards. The position aims to optimize resource utilization, maintain safety standards, and contribute to overall project efficiency in line with organizational objectives. Preferred candidate profile Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or related field. A master’s degree or equivalent in project management or industrial engineering is an advantage. PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred. Certification in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies preferred. Preferred Experience: Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in hull/steel fabrication within a shipyard or heavy industry environment. Prior experience in project control, quality assurance, and resource management within shipbuilding or steel fabrication is essential. Functional Competency: Proficiency in steel fabrication techniques, welding processes, and quality standards in the shipbuilding industry. Through understanding of ship construction/production drawings and ability to interpret P & ID/isometrics. Familiarity with CAD software and project management tools (e.g., MS Project). Knowledge of classification society requirements, regulatory standards, and health/safety/environmental protocols.

Fabrication & Steel Works Direct and monitor steel structural repairs including hull and superstructure. Oversee pipeline fabrication, modifications, and repairs. Manage lathe, milling, and general fabrication workshop activities. 3. Electrical, Hydraulic & Automation Systems Supervise repairs and maintenance of hydraulic systems, automation systems, and electrical equipment. Manage motor rewinding and other electrical component restoration. Coordinate diagnostics and troubleshooting for onboard automation systems. 4. Team Leadership & Operations Lead a team of service engineers, technicians, and workshop staff across multiple technical disciplines. Plan and allocate jobs, ensuring timely and cost-effective service delivery. Ensure adherence to safety protocols, operational efficiency, and quality standards. 5. Client Coordination & Reporting Liaise with clients for job planning, progress updates, and technical discussions. Prepare and submit job completion reports, cost estimates, and service documentation. 6. Future Responsibilities (Phase 3) Lead and expand operations to include underwater repair and service jobs. Build and train underwater services team and ensure compliance with relevant safety and marine standards. Qualification Location : Turbhe Experience: Degree/Diploma in Mechanical/Marine Engineering or equivalent. 10+ years of relevant experience in marine/mechanical repair services, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of marine engines, auxiliary systems, automation, and steel fabrication. Familiarity with marine safety standards, class requirements, and repair codes.
