As a Food Safety Specialist at Sodexo, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the deployment of a Zero Harm mindset within frontline employees. You will be in charge of implementing Safety improvement plans at the site/account and confirming the deployment of Sodexo Safety Net and Client Safety initiatives. Additionally, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall upkeep, food hygiene, and safety standards of the location, monitoring activities throughout the food chain to uphold food safety standards. You will need to conduct Risk Assessments to identify potential risks related to the working environment, machinery, or equipment, and suggest preventive measures to the site manager. It will be your duty to prepare Risk Assessments & Risk Registers, update them post-incident or new scope additions, and train frontline staff in hazard identification and reporting. Furthermore, you will be required to prepare and update the Legal Register, ensuring all legal compliance is in place and escalating in case of non-compliances. Your role will involve conducting safety walks and Safety Observations, reporting them in the Salus system, and tracking for closure. You will also create awareness on Nearmiss reporting, report Nearmiss incidents in Salus, and manage Incident Management by informing regional HSE & region Head, investigating incidents, preparing Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and ensuring all corrective actions are implemented at the site. In addition to the above responsibilities, you will need to ensure adherence to various HSE practices such as Time-temperature, FIFO, Sorting Process, Thawing, salt & Turmeric processes, CCPs, Deep Cleaning, Pest Control, PPM of Equipment, Electrical Safety, Global engineering practices, and HSMS processes. Monitoring that all required checklists and records are maintained, conducting HSE trainings, safety campaigns, calibrations, self-inspections, and safety declarations will also be part of your duties. To qualify for this role, you should have a Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Food Science or related field, along with a minimum of 4-5 years of experience in Food Safety and Health and Safety Systems Management. Possessing certifications like Certified Lead auditor ISO22000/HACCP/ISO 9001/ISO45001 and Advance Diploma in Food Safety would be advantageous. As a Food Safety Specialist, it is crucial to possess strong business acumen, client obsession, financial understanding, and a range of behavioral competencies including optimizing work processes, driving results, effective communication, collaboration, and managing ambiguity. Your ability to make good decisions, exhibit courage, and resilience will be key to succeeding in this role. Carry out audits for the same to check the effectiveness of implementation. 6) Ensure preparation & implementation of Job Safety Analysis of each activity carried out by Maintenance & Project team at Plants / Terminal. 7) Impart Site Specific Health & Safety Training for every specific and critical activities to third party contractor workmen. 8) Carry out Health & Safety risk assessment of LPG plants & Terminal. 9) Train Plant / Terminal crew (Operator / Agency workers / Securities / 3rd party Transport crew) on manual handling risk involved using Self Training module 10) Transport Safety Conduct Safety meeting with transport crew, other plant engineers, transporters to ensure highest level of safety of LPG transportation and ensure other activities related to LPG transport safety. Conduct enroute audits of LPG Bulk tanker to evaluate the level of safety of LPG transportation. 11) Transport Safety Carry out health and safety risk assessment for transport activities related to Bulk Tanker & Cylinder Truck. 12) Maintained inventory of require safety items, Safety equipment, spares & consumables as per plan. 13) Time to time review and implementation of various Process/ Procedure related to HSE at Plant/ Terminal operation and effectively ensure implementation. 14) Coordinate with local authorities for various H&S related activities and compliance management. Preferred candidate profile Safety Engineer or Engineer in Mech/Chem/Petro Chem with Bachelor Degree in Industrial Safety.
