Role Overview: As an HPC Architect / Lead, you will play a crucial role in managing cloud computing infrastructure for scientific research projects, focusing on optimizing performance, scalability, and security. Your expertise in AWS Cloud services, High-Performance Computing (HPC), and experience in the life sciences domain will be essential in leading cloud infrastructure projects and driving innovation within a dynamic research-driven environment. Key Responsibilities: - Lead and manage cloud computing infrastructure for scientific research projects, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security. - Design and implement AWS Cloud solutions (EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, RDS, VPC, CloudFormation, Terraform) for high-performance computing workloads. - Oversee the architecture and deployment of scalable cloud solutions for research computations. - Implement, monitor, and optimize HPC clusters to ensure efficient resource utilization. - Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of cloud architects and engineers. - Collaborate with research teams and stakeholders to understand scientific needs and translate them into technical solutions. - Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure and performance issues. - Stay updated on emerging cloud computing technologies and best practices, introducing them to the team. - Ensure best practices for cloud security, compliance, and cost management across projects. - Work closely with clients in the life sciences domain to understand their specific needs and challenges. Qualifications & Skills: Must-Have: - 10+ years of experience in cloud computing, with a focus on AWS. - Proven expertise in designing and deploying cloud solutions for HPC workloads. - Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, RDS, networking solutions). - Strong background in HPC cluster optimization & management. - Proficiency in Python, Bash, Terraform, CloudFormation for cloud automation. - Excellent understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements. - Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills. - Ability to mentor and lead technical teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work culture. Good-to-Have (Preferred): - Experience in Life Sciences, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or Medical Research. - Familiarity with scientific computing tools (MATLAB, R, HPC job schedulers). - Advanced knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud-native environments. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and cloud automation.
