HPC Architect/ Lead

You are a highly skilled and experienced Lead in Scientific Cloud Computing with over 10 years of experience in cloud computing, primarily focusing on AWS services. Your role involves leading and managing cloud computing infrastructure for scientific research projects, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security. You will design and implement AWS Cloud solutions for high-performance computing workloads, oversee the architecture of scalable solutions in AWS, and collaborate with research teams to translate scientific needs into technical solutions. As a Lead in Scientific Cloud Computing, you will implement, monitor, and optimize the performance of HPC clusters, provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of cloud architects and engineers, and troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure and performance issues. You are expected to stay updated with emerging cloud computing technologies and best practices, ensuring their proactive introduction to the team. Additionally, you will ensure best practices for cloud security, cost management, and performance optimization are followed across projects, working closely with clients in the life sciences domain to understand their specific needs and challenges. To qualify for this role, you must have proven expertise in designing and deploying cloud solutions for HPC, hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, RDS, and networking solutions, as well as a strong background in optimizing and managing HPC clusters in cloud environments. Experience in automating cloud infrastructure using scripting languages and infrastructure-as-code tools, along with a deep understanding of cloud security best practices, is essential. You should possess excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills, and the ability to mentor and guide technical teams in a collaborative and innovative work culture. Preferred qualifications include exposure to the life sciences domain, familiarity with scientific computing tools and libraries, advanced knowledge in containerization technologies, and experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in cloud environments.
