Highway Design Engineer

As a Highway Design Engineer at NV5, you will play a crucial role in shaping communities by delivering solutions that improve lives. Your responsibilities will include: - Developing detailed roadway and highway designs using Autodesk Civil 3D, encompassing alignments, profiles, corridors, cross-sections, and grading plans. - Utilizing expertise in Civil 3D, Open Roads, and AutoCAD to lead project development from inception to completion, aligning scope, schedule, and budget with client strategic goals. - Conducting ongoing engineering review and evaluation of designs to ensure compliance with criteria, standards, and specifications. - Overseeing design and construction document preparation, including change-management documents, from concept design to final completion. - Maintaining comprehensive project documentation and reporting scope, schedule, and budget status throughout the project. - Attending and presenting at public hearings to represent the project. Qualifications required for this role: - Bachelors degree in civil engineering. - Minimum of 5 years of civil engineering experience with a desire and ability to manage and mentor staff. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Proficiency in software including AutoCAD Civil 3D (mandatory), Open Roads (advantageous), basic Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, PowerPoint, and Outlook. - Familiarity with applicable standards such as AASHTO, FHWA, DOT regulations. - Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. - Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
