As a Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Battery Design Engineer, you will be responsible for understanding the electrical architecture of HEV/EV vehicles. Your role will involve conceptualizing, laying out, designing, and developing Lithium-Ion Battery packs for HEV/EV applications. You will need to determine specifications, conduct testing, and evaluate components and subsystems. Additionally, you will be tasked with optimizing cost and weight through Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) and benchmarking processes. Collaboration with other design departments, suppliers, and relevant agencies will be essential for the successful coordination of design and development activities. Your technical competencies should include proficiency in working with DMU, 3D modeling, and 2D drawing. Experience with UNIGRAPHICS is desirable. You should have a strong background in Lithium-Ion battery pack design, child part development, and testing, along with knowledge of safety and test standards applicable to Lithium-Ion batteries. A deep understanding of different types of cells/modules, battery chemistry, electrical characteristics, and battery pack architectures is crucial for this role. Experience in testing at both the battery pack and vehicle levels, as well as exposure to Hybrid/Electric Powertrain Control Design, verification, and validation, will be beneficial. Familiarity with onboard diagnostics and HEV/EV regulations such as AIS 038 is also required. On the behavioral front, you should be proactive, possess good problem-solving skills, and demonstrate a willingness to learn, unlearn, and relearn continuously. Effective mentorship and team motivation through proper delegation are key aspects of this role. You should be adaptable to change, have a forward-looking vision for industry and consumer trends, and be willing to relocate as per job requirements. The educational qualifications for this position include a B.E./BTech in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering as a must-have, while an M.E./MTech in Design/Manufacturing Engineering with relevant project work related to Electric Vehicle/Hybrid Electric Vehicle systems is desirable.
