Head of Accounts & Compliance

XL Retail Private Limited is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Head to lead our finance & compliance function. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end accounting, statutory compliance, and ensuring timely closure of monthly and annual balance sheets. This leadership role requires strong technical knowledge, process discipline, and the ability to collaborate with auditors and management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting & Financial Reporting

• • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accuracy of books.

• • Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of financial statements.

• • Finalize Balance Sheet, P&L, cash flow statements, and MIS reports.

• • Prepare ledger reconciliations, schedules, provisions, and adjustments.

• • Coordinate with statutory and internal auditors for timely audit completion.

2. Compliance & Statutory Management

• • Ensure adherence to GST, TDS, Income Tax, PF/ESI, and all statutory regulations.

• • Prepare and file all statutory returns accurately and on time.

• • Address notices, assessments, and queries from tax authorities.

• • Stay updated with regulatory changes and implement process updates.

3. Internal Controls & Process Improvement

• • Establish and strengthen internal controls and accounting SOPs.

• • Monitor AP/AR, vendor reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and inventory accounting.

• • Support management in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

• • Drive automation and system improvements for better accuracy and compliance.

4. Team Leadership

• • Lead and mentor the accounting team.

• • Ensure training on new processes, compliance updates, and best practices.

Skills Required

• • Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, Income Tax & statutory compliances.

• • Proven experience in finalization of accounts and balance sheet closure.

• • Proficiency in Tally / ERP systems / Excel.

• • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

• • Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

• • Background in retail / trading / multi-store operations is an added advantage.

• • Experience handling multiple entities or multi-location accounting.
