Job Location: Rabale, Navi-Mumbai Job Specifications: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Proposal Engineer with 3 - 6 years of experience in heavy fabrication or industrial engineering sectors . As a Proposal Engineer, you will be the key interface between our technical team and clients - responsible for interpreting customer inquiries, preparing accurate cost estimates, and drafting comprehensive technical and commercial proposals. Key Responsibilities: RFQ Handling: Act as the first point of contact for incoming RFQs from customers and the field sales team. Requirement Analysis: Independently evaluate RFQ specifications, technical drawings, and commercial terms to align them with our offerings. Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost sheets for fabricated steel components using company-approved costing models and software. Proposal Creation: Draft clear and compelling technical and commercial proposals in line with scope of supply, timelines, and commercial considerations. Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and production departments to gather inputs and deliver timely responses. Project Management: Manage multiple proposal requests simultaneously, ensuring adherence to internal proposal schedules and customer deadlines. Customer Engagement: Participate in client and subcontractor meetings to resolve technical clarifications and better understand project needs. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain proposal records and ensure all submissions comply with QA standards and company policy. Client Liaison: Act as a single point of contact for the client and internal teams on all techno-commercial matters throughout the proposal lifecycle. Risk Assessment: Identify commercial, technical, and delivery risks and support the transition of successful bids into contract execution phases. Qualifications: Education: Diploma or Degree (BE/B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering. Experience: 3 - 6 years of experience in proposal, estimation, or sales engineering roles within the fabrication, industrial equipment, or project-based manufacturing industries. Skills & Competencies: Strong understanding of fabrication processes, cost structures, and steel component manufacturing. Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and interpreting technical documents. Excellent communication skills for internal coordination and external client interaction. Good analytical and commercial acumen to evaluate feasibility and profitability. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with costing software is a plus. Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings, if required. Why Join Us? We are looking for skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineers with 5 - 10 years of experience in welding and heavy fabrication design . You will be responsible for designing and supporting the manufacturing of large fabricated components used in industrial applications. A strong foundation in mechanical design principles, welding processes, and fabrication techniques is essential. Key Responsibilities: Design and Development: Create accurate and detailed 2D/3D CAD models and drawings for fabricated steel structures and components. Technical Documentation: Prepare engineering documentation, including BOMs and technical specifications, as per project requirements and industry standards. Project Management: Execute design tasks independently or as part of a matrix team, managing timelines and deliverables effectively. Fabrication Support: Work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are feasible and implemented correctly on the shop floor. Compliance & Standards: Ensure designs comply with applicable welding codes, safety regulations, and internal quality benchmarks. Value Engineering: Contribute to cost and process optimization by identifying design improvements that enhance manufacturability and reduce material waste. Client Interaction: Engage with clients and internal stakeholders to gather design inputs and present technical solutions. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain updated records of design changes, revisions, and approval cycles. Travel: Willingness to travel to client or vendor locations when necessary. Qualifications: Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical discipline. Experience: 5 - 10 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in a fabrication or welding-intensive manufacturing environment. Technical Skills Required: Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent). Sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles and welding processes (MIG, TIG, SMAW, etc.). Familiarity with fabrication techniques such as cutting, bending, machining, and assembly. Ability to interpret and apply welding symbols and GD&T on drawings. Basic understanding of stress analysis or design validation (added advantage). Soft Skills & Traits: Strong communication and technical documentation skills. Ability to manage multiple projects with high attention to detail. Proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving. Open to feedback and willing to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Team-oriented with a positive and professional attitude. Preferred Advantage (Not Mandatory): Exposure to large welded assemblies or structural steel design. Experience working with job shop or batch manufacturing setups. Familiarity with ERP systems and product lifecycle documentation.
