Seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager – India to join our business team for a leading global manufacturer of high-performance air suspension and load-management systems for commercial and specialty vehicles. Role Summary The Purchasing Manager – India will support global supply chain strategy by identifying, assessing, and managing manufacturing vendors across India and neighbouring regions (including Turkey, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia). This role focuses on cost optimization, capacity assurance, quality performance, and trade compliance. Acting as the on-ground extension of the Global Supply Chain team, the Purchasing Manager will ensure suppliers meet all commercial, technical, and ethical standards expected of global manufacturing partners. Key Responsibilities Vendor Development & Sourcing Identify and onboard qualified manufacturers for metal, plastic, and composite components. Evaluate vendor capabilities (machining, injection molding, fabrication, stamping, assembly, etc.) using company-defined audit templates. Support RFQ and cost-analysis processes to achieve best total landed cost outcomes. Supplier Management Coordinate periodic supplier performance reviews covering quality, delivery, and cost metrics. Monitor regional supply chain risks and report potential disruptions, regulatory changes, or logistics bottlenecks. Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives with existing suppliers. Ensure supplier compliance with documentation (mill certificates, origin proof, ISO/IATF certifications, etc.). Logistics & Coordination Track production schedules and shipment readiness in coordination with vendors. Liaise with logistics partners to ensure smooth container bookings, accurate lead times, and timely export documentation. Proactively escalate risks to supply continuity or cost stability. Market Intelligence & Reporting Track and analyze regional trends in raw material pricing, labor costs, and trade policy (tariffs, import/export rules). Provide regular regional sourcing updates and maintain detailed vendor visit reports and audit records. Support data-driven supplier scorecards and maintain sourcing pipeline documentation. Serve as the primary communication bridge between U.S. management and regional suppliers. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Business. Experience: Minimum 5 years in purchasing, sourcing, or vendor development within manufacturing or automotive sectors. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, molding, casting, fabrication). Familiarity with import/export procedures, Incoterms, and documentation standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; working knowledge of Teams or equivalent communication tools. Excellent command of English (written and spoken). Willingness to travel regionally up to 25% as required. Performance Metrics Cost savings achieved through sourcing or negotiation. On-time delivery and quality performance of assigned vendors. Responsiveness and completeness of reporting. Vendor audit completion rate and follow-up effectiveness. Accuracy of supplier documentation and compliance tracking. Preferred Attributes Experience working with U.S. or European manufacturing companies. Familiarity with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 supplier standards. Knowledge of local trade and tariff agreements.
