The Materials Planner position at our automotive supply chain operations in Pune requires an experienced professional with 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in materials planning within an Automotive Tier 1 or Tier 2 Supplier environment. As a Materials Planner, you will be responsible for developing and executing material planning strategies based on production schedules, customer forecasts, and inventory levels. Your role will involve coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components, monitoring and optimizing inventory levels, and analyzing material requirements using MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or QAD. You will drive material readiness for engineering changes, new product introductions, and line-side availability while collaborating with purchasing, production, and logistics teams to resolve material shortages or delays. Additionally, you will support cost-saving initiatives through improved material utilization and supplier performance enhancements. It will be essential for you to prepare and present reports on material status, shortages, and key planning metrics while ensuring compliance with company policies, quality standards, and automotive industry regulations like IATF 16949. The ideal candidate for this role should hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field, along with 3-7 years of experience in materials planning within an Automotive Tier 1 or Tier 2 manufacturing setup. Strong knowledge of MRP systems (SAP, QAD, Oracle, or similar) is required, as well as familiarity with lean manufacturing, JIT (Just-In-Time), Kanban, and other supply chain best practices. Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills, a problem-solving mindset, and a data-driven approach are essential for success in this position. Preferred qualifications for the Materials Planner role include APICS/CPIM certification or equivalent, exposure to import/export documentation and global sourcing practices, and hands-on experience with digital supply chain tools or analytics platforms.
