As a Substation Transmission & Distribution Engineer at WSP, your primary responsibility will involve creating detailed engineering drawings for various projects including Overhead line routing layout, wire clearance diagrams, scaffold clearance check drawings, Downlead arrangement for towers, and georeferenced layout and set drawings. You will also develop engineering profile drawings for overhead line routing and Extra High Voltage (EHV) projects ranging from 11kV up to 400kV, covering both Air Insulated Substations (AIS) and Gas Insulated Substations (GIS). In this role, you will be expected to prepare EC&I deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams, loop drawings, cable block diagrams, plant layouts, cable routing, and switchgear configurations using 2D and 3D software packages. Additionally, you will facilitate coordination of design activities across departments, conduct design reviews, and collaborate closely with clients to ensure adherence to company and client drafting standards and procedures. You will also be responsible for coordinating with team members, monitoring project schedules, and ensuring high-quality submissions. Compliance with CDM Regulations and other legal requirements associated with substation and electrical system design will be a key aspect of your role. Moreover, you will collaborate with the WSP UK office on design activities, provide guidance to less experienced team members, and contribute to the development and enhancement of processes, tools, and technologies in the design process. Your proactive approach in identifying and resolving challenges, as well as your involvement in training sessions and meetings, will be crucial in supporting organizational initiatives. To qualify for this position, you should possess a Diploma or ITI in electrical engineering, along with a minimum of five years and a maximum of twelve years of experience in Substation Transmission & Distribution, Renewable (Onshore & Offshore wind/ Solar), and BESS projects. Familiarity with UK projects and experience in lead substation design roles on National Grid Electricity Transmission projects will be advantageous. Additionally, knowledge of 3D tools for Engineering design and strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills are essential for this role.
