Monitor gas usage, maintain safe handling of cylinders, and adhere to all fire and safety norms. Perform basic equipment maintenance and report defects or leaks in the cutting system immediately. Assist fitters/welders in marking, handling, and aligning of parts as per the fabrication schedule. Follow job cards, production schedules, and safety protocols rigorously. Minimum Qualifications Education: 8th Pass / ITI preferred Certification: Gas Cutting Training Certificate from a recognized institute or NSDC training partner Experience: 2 to 5 years of proven experience as a Gas Cutter in shipyards, rail fabrication, structural workshops, or defense-related fabrication units Experience in handling plates ranging from 6mm to 40mm in thickness Technical Skills Required Proficiency in oxy-acetylene and oxy-LPG flame cutting Ability to work from 2D fabrication drawings and cutting templates Understanding of gas pressures, nozzle selection, and safety shut-off procedures Familiarity with plate edge preparation for butt, fillet, and groove welds Basic grinding and edge cleaning using angle grinders or wire wheels Soft Skills & Physical Requirements Physically fit, able to work in confined spaces, heights, or extreme heat conditions Attention to detail and ability to maintain dimensional tolerances Safety-conscious with strong adherence to fire prevention and site protocols Willing to work in rotational shifts, extended hours, or urgent project deliveries Preferred Qualifications Experience in defense shipyards, modular hull fabrication, or wagon repair Awareness of cutting standards as per IS codes or ship classification norms (IRS, DNV) Knowledge of basic fitting or welding to support multi-skill operations Compensation & Benefits Competitive daily/monthly wages based on experience Overtime pay and productivity incentives for high-volume output Lodging and food (for outstation workmen) PPEs, cutting equipment, and consumables provided on-site Career progression to Lead Cutter, Fitter-Cutter, or Fabrication Supervisor Why Work With Mr. Garaz?
