The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience and deep knowledge of machinery and systems involved in the production of biochar, bioethanol, biomethanol, biodiesel, and green hydrogen. Key Responsibilities : Lead end-to-end project execution for biochar and advanced biofuel production (bioethanol, biomethanol, biodiesel, green hydrogen), including planning, commissioning, start-up, and operational ramp-up of integrated systems. Oversee production operations across all technologies—pyrolysis, fermentation, distillation, transesterification, and hydrogen generation—ensuring machinery is operated, maintained, and optimized for maximum performance. Drive process efficiency and cost optimization by identifying improvement opportunities in energy use, yield enhancement, and material handling, incorporating advanced process control strategies and heat integration techniques. Manage technical teams by providing hands-on training, operational guidance, and troubleshooting support, fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability. Ensure regulatory and safety compliance , implementing ISO, HAZOP, and environment-specific norms across all production units while maintaining a strong EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) culture. Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, supply chain, and engineering departments to integrate new technologies and streamline scale-up of production lines. Evaluate and upgrade equipment and systems through vendor coordination, procurement planning, and implementation of IoT-enabled SCADA/PLC systems for real-time process monitoring and data analytics. Establish and manage preventive maintenance programs , coordinate spare parts inventory, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues proactively. Stay abreast of industry innovations in bioenergy technology, equipment advancements, and market trends to keep the production process future-ready and competitive. Develop and maintain technical documentation , including SOPs, operational reports, and regulatory compliance records to support internal governance and audits. Preferred Experience, Skills & Competencies Proven experience in scaling bioenergy projects from pilot to commercial-level production, with a strong understanding of process scale-up challenges and solutions. Working knowledge of carbon credit mechanisms , lifecycle assessment (LCA) methodologies, and sustainability reporting frameworks , including exposure to voluntary and compliance markets. Certifications or hands-on experience with EBC , WBC , ISO 9001/45001 , and fuel quality standards relevant to biochar and advanced biofuels. Job Summary The Environmental Project Specialist will be responsible for the technical development, validation, and ongoing management of high-integrity carbon projects focusing on industrial biochar production and diverse Nature-Based Solutions (NBS). This role requires deep expertise in carbon project methodologies (e.g., ARR, AWD, biochar), product life cycle assessment (LCA), and navigating the requirements of major carbon standards (Verra, Gold Standard, Puro Earth,Isometric ) and emerging monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) platforms . The specialist will drive the translation of project concepts into creditable, verified carbon assets. II. Key Responsibilities A. Carbon Project Development & Validation * Methodology & Protocol Application: Lead the selection, interpretation, and application of appropriate carbon accounting methodologies for biochar, ARR, AWD, and mangrove projects. * Project Document Design: Develop and manage all necessary project documentation, including Project Design Documents (PDDs), Monitoring Plans, and Stakeholder Consultation Reports, ensuring full compliance with chosen standards (Verra, Gold Standard, Puro Earth,Isometric ). * Validation & Verification: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for external Validation/Verification Bodies (VVBs).
