GIS - Annotation Intern

Position: GIS Annotation Intern About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated GIS Annotation Intern to support our geospatial data labeling and annotation efforts . This role is ideal for students or recent graduates in Geography, Environmental Science, Geomatics, Remote Sensing, Computer Science, or related fields who are passionate about spatial data and its role in machine learning and decision-making. Responsibilities Annotate geospatial imagery (satellite, aerial, drone) using GIS tools according to project guidelines. Digitize polygons, points, and lines to identify and classify features (e.g., roads, land use, vegetation, buildings, etc.). Perform quality checks and refine annotations based on feedback. Support the preparation and management of shapefiles, raster datasets, and metadata. Collaborate with GIS analysts, data scientists, and ML engineers to ensure annotation accuracy and consistency. Assist in documentation of annotation procedures and workflows. Qualifications Skills Qualifications Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Geography, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, or a related field. Basic experience with GIS software (e.g., QGIS, Googleearth pro, or similar). Understanding of spatial data types and coordinate systems. High attention to detail and the ability to follow annotation protocols accurately. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Additional Information Bonus Points Familiarity with geospatial data formats (GeoTIFF, Shapefile, GeoJSON, etc.). Exposure to Python or scripting tools for GIS (e.g., GDAL, rasterio, geopandas). Interest or experience in geospatial AI/ML or data labeling platforms.
