You will be responsible for leading the technical product development of strategic projects from market definition through production and release. As a core team member for mechanical design, you will also act as the design leader for a cross-functional team in collaboration with the project manager. One of your key responsibilities will be to train colleagues on technical tools and processes, leveraging your understanding of competitive products and intellectual property within the department. In this role, you will be expected to execute on multiple projects concurrently, driving technology and product decisions with the team. Your influence within the department will be demonstrated through active participation in design reviews of colleagues" projects and contributing to technical initiatives. Customer and supplier communications will also fall under your purview as you drive the product development process through stages of concept, design, validation, and industrialization. To conceptualize new products, you will utilize engineering tools to create 3D CAD models and collaborate with a cross-functional team to refine these concepts into manufacturable and cost-effective products. Additionally, you will perform engineering analysis, including mechanical simulations on key features, and create 2D drawings with geometric dimensions and tolerances. Writing specifications and technical documentation, coordinating engineering prototypes, and conducting validation and qualification testing will also be part of your responsibilities. Your background should include a Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering, along with at least 8 years of mechanical engineering product development experience. Ideally, you should have experience in the connector and cable assembly industry, as well as proficiency in 3D CAD applications such as PTC Creo and 3D CAE simulation applications like Ansys. Strong interpersonal communication skills, cross-functional teamwork abilities, and experience working in a global environment are also required competencies for this role. If you possess a detailed understanding of manufacturing processes, design for manufacturing principles, and have a track record of participating in the full product development cycle, this position could be an excellent fit for you.
