A. About the Role The Pumped Storage Hydro Project: Civil Engineering Expert will be a key member of our project team, responsible for providing specialized expertise in the civil engineering aspects of hydro and pumped storage projects. The role involves technical support and analysis for project development, detailed project reports (DPRs), and construction-related activities. The profile will require interaction with various stakeholders (CEA, Survey and Design Agencies, Client) as a coordinator and integrator Consultant for Preparation of Pre-Feasibility Reports and Detailed Project Report DPR) for PSP projects. B. Detailed expectations from the role Project Development and DPR Preparation: Assist in the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for various hydro projects, including conventional, multipurpose, and pumped storage projects (PSPs). This involves conducting technical studies, reviewing design drawings, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and guidelines. Hydrology and Water Resource Management: Analyze hydrological data, including rainfall, river flows, and water availability, to assess project feasibility and water resource management plans. This includes review the work done by different agencies by using software and models for hydrological analysis and basin-wide studies. Site Investigations and Geotechnical Studies: Support to review site investigation activities, including geological and geotechnical surveys. The expert will be involved in interpreting data from boreholes, rock mechanics tests, and other field studies to assess foundation conditions and tunnel stability. Civil Design Review: Review and provide input on civil engineering designs for major project components such as dams, barrages, powerhouses (both surface and underground), water conductor systems (tunnels, surge shafts, and penstocks), and tailrace systems. Construction Activity Support: Work with the project team to understand and address on-site study / survey challenges, providing technical clarifications and solutions. Familiarity with construction methodologies for civil works in hydro projects is essential. Economic and Financial Analysis Support: Provide technical inputs for the economic and financial viability assessment of projects, including cost estimation of civil works. Data and Document Management: Maintain and manage all technical documents, presentations, reports, and data related to the civil engineering aspects of the projects. Coordination and Communication: Liaise with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to present findings, discuss technical issues, and ensure project alignment with client expectations. C. Required skill set Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills are essential for interacting with stakeholders. Thorough Technical Knowledge and Understanding: a. Solid understanding of civil engineering principles and their application in hydro projects. b. Knowledge of various hydro project components, including dams, tunnels, powerhouses, and water conductor systems. c. Familiarity with geological and geotechnical investigations and rock mechanics principles, experience with hydrological analysis and water resource modelling. d. Knowledge of relevant Indian and international standards for hydro project design and construction, including CEA guidelines for DPR Preparation. Software Proficiency: Proficiency in relevant engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS, and hydrological modelling tools) is a plus. Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team. D. Education and Experience Education: Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.)/ B. Tech in Civil Engineering. Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology & Management, Rock Mechanics and Underground Structures, or a related field is highly preferred. Experience: Minimum of 2 years for Analyst/ 4 years for Sr. Analyst with proven experience in the hydro sector, with a strong understanding of project design and DPR works for conventional, multipurpose, and Pumped Storage Projects (PSP).
