General Surgeon

Roles & Responsibilities:Clinical Duties:

• Provide comprehensive General Surgery OPD and IPD services to patients at Lifetime Hospital.
• Perform minor and major general surgical procedures, both elective and emergency.
• Conduct pre-operative evaluations, surgical planning, and ensure appropriate post-operative care.
• Manage emergency surgical cases and take timely, critical clinical decisions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, anesthetists, and ICU staff for optimal patient care.
• Adhere to established surgical protocols, patient safety standards, and infection control guidelines.

Academic Responsibilities

(Senior Resident / Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor):

• Deliver lectures, clinical teaching, and case discussions for undergraduate medical students.
• Guide and mentor residents and interns in surgical techniques, ward management, and OT protocols.
• Provide hands-on training to students and residents in the operation theatre.
• Supervise, evaluate, and assess students and residents in both practical and theoretical components.
• Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and initiatives to enhance teaching standards.
• Initiate and lead research projects, publish scientific work, and promote evidence-based surgical practices.
• Support academic, clinical, and administrative responsibilities as required.

Job Specifications:Educational Qualification:

• MS / DNB in General Surgery from a recognized medical college.
• Fellowship or additional surgical training will be an added advantage.

Experience:

• Senior Resident: 1–3 years of experience in General Surgery.
• Assistant Professor: Minimum 3 years of teaching and clinical experience in General Surgery.
• Associate Professor: Minimum 5–8 years of teaching, clinical, and research experience.
