As a Medical Advisor in the maritime health sector at BSM, you will play a crucial role in providing expert medical guidance and support for the well-being of passengers and crew members on commercial and cruise vessels. Working closely with the Senior Medical Advisor and relevant teams, you will be responsible for implementing medical protocols, emergency response plans, and health promotion initiatives. Your key accountabilities will include providing remote medical consultation to onboard medical teams, addressing routine health matters and complex cases. You will also assist in implementing and enforcing medical policies and procedures on vessels to ensure compliance with maritime health regulations. In collaboration with the emergency response team, you will develop and improve plans for medical emergencies on board and provide real-time guidance during critical incidents. Furthermore, you will contribute to the development of training programs for onboard medical staff, covering medical procedures, emergency response, and health promotion. Working with onboard and shore-based teams, you will promote health and wellness initiatives for passengers and crew members and review medical records and incident reports to identify trends and areas for improvement. Additionally, your role will involve maintaining regular communication with onboard medical personnel, coordinating with external medical service providers to ensure the availability of necessary medical supplies and services for vessels, and controlling the efficiency and quality of services offered while promoting the HMH image on the market. You will provide leadership and case management for any issues associated with HMH, respond to customer complaints regarding the medical team onboard, and ensure the accuracy and suitability of medical reports for insurance claims. To be successful in this role, you must possess a Medical Degree from a recognized university, a Medical Specialty Diploma in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesiology, General Practice, Internal Medicine, or General Surgery, and Board Certification as a consultant in family medicine, emergency care, or internal medicine. Additionally, you should be certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) within one year of application. With a minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical medicine and previous experience in maritime medicine or a related field being desirable, you should have knowledge of International Maritime Health regulations and guidelines, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Computer literacy, proficiency in English, and the willingness to stay updated on industry developments and medical advancements relevant to maritime health are also essential.
