Full Stack Software Developer (MEAN stack)

As a member of the team at Verto, you will play a crucial role in revolutionizing how thousands of businesses transfer money in and out of Africa. Your primary focus will be on designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and scalable services for Vertos suite of products. In your first 12 months, you will have the opportunity to develop and deploy at least two scalable, distributed applications on AWS or other cloud platforms, directly impacting business-critical functions. Your contributions will lead to the design and delivery of RESTful APIs that power secure, high-performance web applications used by thousands of businesses. Success in your role will also involve improving system performance and scalability, with the goal of contributing to a 25% reduction in average API response times. You will be expected to build a robust front-end architecture using modern frameworks like Angular, ensuring an intuitive user experience for our clients. Additionally, maintaining high standards of code quality, security, and reliability will be key in reducing production issues by 30%. Your responsibilities will include building and testing highly scalable web applications and services, working with petabyte-scale data in the data governance domain. You will be required to create robust system and service architectures, providing constructive feedback to peers during design reviews. Leveraging cloud platforms like AWS to build geographically agnostic and flexible systems will be a core part of your role, along with using development tools such as AWS CodeBuild, Docker, Serverless Framework, and Swagger to deliver high-quality solutions. To excel in this position, you should have 2+ years of professional development experience with any object-oriented language, hands-on experience with Node.js, and proficiency in modern web frameworks such as Angular and React. A strong understanding of software design principles, excellent knowledge of HTTP and REST standards, and experience working with relational databases like MySQL are essential requirements. Moreover, a track record of developing highly scalable distributed applications on cloud platforms, particularly AWS, will be highly valued. Communication skills are key in this role, as you will be expected to explain technical decisions and mentor team members.
