Fit Technician/Garment Technologist

Seeking a highly skilled Garment Technician with 6-10 years of hands-on experience in garment construction, pattern making, and quality control, with a strong understanding of fabric properties, garment fitting, and production processes. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in troubleshooting garment issues, ensuring the technical specifications are met, and optimizing production efficiency while maintaining the highest quality standards. Fit & Technical Development Conduct live fittings with or without designers to evaluate garment fit and construction changes required to meet design expectations. Independently close garment fits and prepare comprehensive Tech Packs with clear instructions for agents and factories. Evaluate and analyze best/worst sellers and competitor products to refine technical methods and garment fit for upcoming seasons. Provide factories with repair options to address fit or quality-related issues promptly. Fabric & Construction Expertise Demonstrate expert knowledge in knits and woven fabrics for womens wear, including pattern-making, garment construction, and manufacturing techniques. Evaluate fabric and garment behavior to ensure proper drape, stretch, and recovery across styles. Understand factory machinery, processes, and methods to guide development and production improvements effectively. Communication & Collaboration Work closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, merchandisers, and factories, to ensure technical specifications and fit align with brand standards. Assemble detailed technical packages and assign easily understood points of measure to progress styles through development and secure fit during production QC inspections. Grading & Sizing Independently determine and apply appropriate grade rules to all points of measure that correlate with each specific style and size. Ensure garments adhere to consistent sizing standards and quality benchmarks during pre-production and production phases. Quality & Process Optimization Advise factories on fit-related improvements and oversee quality control measures to ensure desired fit is achieved in bulk production. Highly organized in all phases of technical design, capable of prioritizing tasks and managing deadlines effectively. Role QualificationsMandatory Skills & Experience Knits and Woven Expertise: Demonstrated experience working with both fabric types in the womens wear category. Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of pattern-making, garment construction, and factory processes. Live Fitting Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience conducting live fittings and determining necessary pattern changes to achieve the desired look and fit. Tech Pack Creation: Ability to prepare clear and detailed technical packages to communicate garment instructions effectively. Grading Rules & Measurement: Proven ability to assign grade rules and develop points of measure for accurate garment sizing. Preferred Experience in working with cross-functional teams in the apparel industry. Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently. Familiarity with QC processes and production inspections for fit consistency.
