Join Barclays as a Financial Controller where you will be responsible for performing month-end analytical reviews and quarterly disclosure analysis to be presented for Director review. This role is based in our Chennai office. **Purpose of the role:** To manage the financial operations of the organization, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of financial reporting. **Accountabilities:** - Manage the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements and other accounting records in accordance with the relevant accounting standards, rules, and regulations. - Support in the identification, assessment, and mitigation of financial risks, and report on these financial risks to senior colleagues. - Develop and maintain a robust system of internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure no fraudulent misreporting, and ensure the accuracy of financial data, including regular assessment of the effectiveness of internal controls addressing any weaknesses or gaps. - Develop and implement up-to-date financial policies and procedures to ensure consistent and effective financial practices across the organization. - Manage the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and software applications, including collaboration with IT colleagues to integrate financial systems with other enterprise systems. - Prepare and submit statutory and regulatory reports to authorities and provide support to other departments in their preparation and review of regulatory reports. - Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory authorities in support of audits and examinations. **Analyst Expectations:** - Meet the needs of stakeholders/customers through specialist advice and support. - Perform prescribed activities in a timely manner and to a high standard, impacting both the role itself and surrounding roles. - Likely to have responsibility for specific processes within a team. - Lead and supervise a team, guiding and supporting professional development, allocating work requirements, and coordinating team resources. - People Leaders are expected to demonstrate a clear set of leadership behaviors to create an environment for colleagues to thrive and deliver to a consistently excellent standard (LEAD: Listen and be authentic, Energize and inspire, Align across the enterprise, Develop others). - Manage own workload, take responsibility for the implementation of systems and processes within the work area, and participate in broader projects. - Execute work requirements, collaborate with closely related teams, check work of colleagues, and provide specialist advice and support in own work area. - Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls, deliver work in line with relevant rules, regulations, and codes of conduct. - Build understanding of how all teams in the area contribute to broader objectives, deliver impact on collaborating teams, and continually develop awareness of underlying principles. - Make judgements based on practice and experience, assess the validity and applicability of previous experiences, and communicate information effectively to customers. - Build relationships with stakeholders/customers to identify and address their needs.
