Job Description Job Description Sr. Manager/Manager Pump House, Compressor, FES Department: Steel Melting Shop (SMS) Location: Integrated Steel Plant – 0.75 MTPA capacity Reports to: GM – SMS Role Objective: To lead and ensure smooth operation, preventive and breakdown maintenance of all mechanical equipment in the SMS, with special focus on Pump House, Compressor, and Fume Extraction System (FES) , ensuring maximum equipment availability, safety, and reliability. Key Responsibilities: Plan, organize, and monitor maintenance activities for Pump House, Compressors, and FES systems. Lead preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities to minimize downtime. Ensure implementation of condition monitoring, reliability engineering practices, and root cause analysis for recurring issues. Prepare and monitor annual maintenance budget, spare planning, and inventory control. Coordinate with operations, projects, and other departments for smooth functioning of SMS equipment. Drive continuous improvement initiatives for equipment performance, energy efficiency, and cost optimization. Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, statutory compliance, and environmental norms . Manage and develop the mechanical maintenance team through training, skill enhancement, and performance management. Prepare MIS, reports, and present performance analysis to senior management. Lead CAPEX/OPEX planning for Pump House, Compressor, and FES maintenance activities. Key Skills & Competencies: Strong technical knowledge in mechanical maintenance of Pump House, Compressor, and Fume Extraction System (FES) in a steel plant SMS. Expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication systems, and utilities. Proficiency in maintenance management systems (SAP / CMMS preferred). Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Knowledge of TPM, RCA, and predictive maintenance tools. Safety-first mindset with strong understanding of statutory & compliance requirements. Qualifications & Experience: B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical Engineering Minimum 10–15 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least 3–5 years in SMS (Pump House, Compressor, FES). Experience in handling large teams and leading maintenance functions at the Manager/Sr. Manager level.

You will be working as a Mechanical Engineer in the SMP #3 Auxiliary Systems at a steel manufacturing plant located in Hazira, India. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee project assignments within GCP, Gas Holder FES, and Sec. Dedusting areas. Your role will involve collaborating closely with the Section Head to ensure the successful management of projects from conceptualization to commissioning and production stabilization, adhering to specified timelines and budgets. Additionally, you will actively engage in similar projects within the organization. To qualify for this position, you must hold a BE/BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering and possess 10-15 years of experience in project management related to Operations & Maintenance (O&M). You should have expertise in SMP Auxiliary Systems, with a strong understanding of areas such as GCP, Gas Holder, FES, and Sec. Dedusting, along with familiarity in at least one more sub-area within SMP. Proficiency in project management and O&M practices is essential, as well as exceptional communication skills, receptiveness to feedback, and the ability to lead by example. As a leader, you should be capable of setting and achieving ambitious targets, possess strategic thinking skills, and demonstrate the ability to develop and implement strategies based on project requirements. Innovation will be a key aspect of your role, where you will be expected to exhibit strong creative thinking, promote a culture of continuous improvement, and encourage teams to explore new approaches in response to changing circumstances. Your key accountabilities will include configuring the appropriate layout and TS, selecting technology suppliers, detailed engineering consultants, and construction partners, as well as planning and executing project activities effectively.
