Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on QC Manager to oversee quality functions across Incoming Quality Control (IQC), Process Quality Control (PQC), and Final Quality Control (FQC) for our SMT plant (two SMT lines). This role combines managerial responsibility with direct technical involvement in inspections, troubleshooting, and equipment operation. The QC Manager will build and lead a small QC team while personally driving quality checks, root cause analysis, and customer complaint resolution. Key Responsibilities Incoming Quality Control (IQC) Perform and oversee inspection of bare PCBs, components, and packaging materials. Operate XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) for plating thickness and RoHS verification of bare PCBs. Conduct visual and microscopic inspection for pad quality, solder mask, and plating defects. Work with suppliers and procurement to resolve non-conformances. Process Quality Control (PQC) Conduct in-line checks during solder paste printing, pick-and-place, reflow soldering, SPI, AOI, and wave soldering. Personally run and interpret SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) and AOI results. Ensure process parameters are maintained, and quickly escalate deviations. Lead a team in defect analysis (bridging, tombstoning, misalignment, etc.) and drive corrective actions. Final Quality Control (FQC) Perform outgoing inspections and testing on finished assemblies. Operate AOI, AXI (as applicable), ICT/FCT systems, and burn-in chambers. Ensure 100% traceability and defect-free shipments. Support customer returns analysis and warranty complaint resolution. Equipment Knowledge & Hands-On Skills The QC Manager must be able to independently operate and interpret results from key QC equipment including: IQC: XRF, microscopes, ESD testers. PQC: SPI, AOI, reflow profiling tools, pull/shear testers. FQC: AOI, AXI (if available), ICT/FCT testers, burn-in chambers, environmental chambers. Failure Analysis: Cross-sectioning, wetting balance tests, solderability tests. Note: This is a hands-on role; candidates must be comfortable personally running equipment, not only managing staff. Quality Systems & Compliance Maintain ISO 9001 standards (ISO 13485 a plus). Prepare SOPs, QC reports, NCRs, and customer complaint analysis. Lead a QC team through training and daily task allocation. Support customer audits and ensure regulatory compliance. KPIs / Success Metrics First Pass Yield (FPY) improvement. Reduction in in-process and outgoing defects. Supplier defect rate reduction. On-time customer complaint resolution. Audit scores and compliance metrics. Qualifications & Experience Diploma/Bachelors in Electronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. 57 years of hands-on SMT QC experience, with exposure to AOI, SPI, XRF. Strong knowledge of IPC standards. Practical experience with root cause analysis, 8D reporting, and SPC. Prior experience in small or mid-size SMT setups preferred. Soft Skills Hands-on, detail-oriented, and willing to work on the line. Strong leadership for a lean team (2–3 members). Analytical and data-driven mindset. Ability to multitask across IQC, PQC, and FQC personally. Effective communicator with operators, suppliers, and customers.
