Role & responsibilities The Operations Head will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end operations of sea and air freight logistics within the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of the logistics and transportation sectors, particularly sea and air freight, and hands-on experience with CargoWise software. The Operations Head will ensure seamless execution of the logistics processes, drive cost efficiency, maintain regulatory compliance, and lead a team to ensure operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: Sea & Air Freight Operations: Oversee and manage the sea and air freight operations, ensuring that shipments are processed, tracked, and delivered on time and in accordance with client specifications. Coordinate the movement of goods through ocean freight, air freight, and multimodal transportation systems (sea-air). Optimize shipping routes, ensuring cost efficiency and minimizing transit time. CargoWise Software Utilization: Lead the implementation and daily management of CargoWise software for handling freight bookings, documentation, shipment tracking, and invoicing. Ensure operational teams are properly trained in CargoWise and its modules, optimizing the use of the software to improve process efficiency and reduce errors. Ensure that the system is up-to-date with the latest shipping schedules, tariffs, and regulations. Documentation and Compliance: Oversee the preparation and management of all shipping documentation for air and sea freight, including customs declarations, bills of lading, and certificates of origin. Ensure all shipments comply with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and safety standards. Manage and monitor regulatory compliance for international freight operations, including handling hazardous materials and DG (Dangerous Goods) shipments. Procurement and Vendor Management: Negotiate rates and service terms with shipping lines, airlines, and freight forwarders to secure the best possible pricing and service quality. Develop and maintain relationships with key logistics service providers, including customs brokers, carriers, and warehousing partners. Monitor vendor performance and make recommendations for improvements to ensure optimal service delivery. Cost Management and Optimization: Manage and control the logistics budget, ensuring cost-effective operations. Continuously analyze and optimize shipping processes to reduce operational costs without sacrificing quality or customer satisfaction. Track and report on key cost metrics, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet financial goals. Team Leadership and Development: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of logistics professionals, providing clear direction and fostering a collaborative work environment. Conduct regular training and development programs to enhance team knowledge, particularly in CargoWise software and logistics best practices. Monitor team performance and ensure that operational goals, KPIs, and deadlines are met consistently. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring the effective and efficient movement of goods and meeting customer expectations. Address and resolve customer queries, complaints, or issues in a timely manner. Work closely with the sales team to provide operational insights, assisting in the development of new business opportunities. Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics operations. Key Requirements: Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
