The opportunity: As a Senior Fatigue Engineer, your main responsibility will be to execute fatigue evaluation and simulations for critical R&D projects. In addition, you will play a key role in studies and new product development within the Offshore Wind Connections (OWC) industry. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting R&D teams with simulation designs and offering technical guidance. Your Responsibilities: - Understand and identify current and future challenges in Offshore Wind Connections (OWC) products, and implement effective solutions for HV equipment fatigue evaluation and design quality control. - Independently execute HV equipment fatigue evaluation. - Proactively provide design suggestions in R&D projects and stay updated on relevant technologies and solutions within the OWC industry. - Act as a technology leader, offering your experience and expertise in projects and supporting Hitachi Energy in advocating for OWC standards. - Mentor junior engineers and oversee the design of fatigue tests to validate simulation results. - Conduct failure analysis, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Design of Experiments (DOE). - Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines. - Embrace Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity by taking responsibility for your actions and caring for your colleagues and the business. Your background: - Hold a Master's or PhD in applied/fatigue Mechanics or structural engineering. - Possess over 10 years of hands-on experience in designing and analyzing naval structures, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and addressing fatigue and structural mechanics challenges. - Demonstrate excellent expertise in finite element method (FEM) simulation using Abaqus or ANSYS. - Ability to design and set up mechanical experiments to validate simulation results and investigate material properties and structural performance. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven track record of addressing complex structural and fatigue issues. - In-depth knowledge of industrial standards for electrical equipment design or naval structure fatigue design. - Proficient in written and spoken English with good collaboration and communication skills to excel in a multi-cultural environment. As a CAE Engineer, you will primarily be responsible for conducting Vehicle Strength & Durability CAE Evaluation. Your duties will include CAE Modeling which involves mesh discretization, assembly, constraint & load setting for automotive sub-systems, focusing on components related to Body & Chassis Structure & Closures. You will be required to perform Strength & Durability analysis for both Linear & Non-Linear cases. Your role will also involve interpreting analysis results, understanding failure modes, and providing recommendations for countermeasures to meet performance criteria. It will be essential for you to document results effectively and communicate with stakeholders including design and testing teams for implementing failure countermeasures. Collaboration with Testing teams to analyze failures, correlate CAE results with physical testing results, and enhance the CAE model will be part of your responsibilities. Furthermore, you will provide support in developing and assessing Value Enhancement proposals. To excel in this role, you must possess strong fundamentals in Strength of Materials, Machine design, and Fatigue. Additionally, you should have knowledge of Finite Element Analysis, specifically within Body Structures & Closures CAE domain, along with a basic understanding of Automotive Body & Sheet metal design. Your technical competencies should include the ability to create CAE models using Hypermesh software, prepare input decks, and conduct analysis in Nastran & LS-Dyna software. Post-processing skills in Hyperview & LS Pre-Post are also required. Experience in Fatigue evaluation using tools like FEMFAT, MSC Fatigue, NCode, and Multibody software such as ADAMS will be advantageous. Basic exposure to Optimization software like Optistruct and Mode Frontier is desirable. Moreover, familiarity with physical testing, the ability to comprehend test conditions, and represent them in CAE will be beneficial. You should be capable of recommending performance improvement countermeasures. In terms of behavioral competencies, excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication & presentation skills, a drive for achievement, teamwork, and networking abilities are essential for success in this role.,
