Job Title: Factory Safety Officer Company: AUSTRO CARBON PRIVATE LIMITED Location : Thoothukudi Company Overview : At Austro Carbon, our goal is to deliver high-quality, sustainable activated carbon solutions that meet the diverse needs of our clients worldwide. We are committed to maintaining high standards of quality, sustainability, and innovation, with coconut shells as a primary raw material and wood serving as an additional sustainable source for activated carbon production. Job Overview: We are looking for a qualified and committed Factory Safety Officer to join our team at our Activated Carbon manufacturing facility. The Safety Officer will be responsible for enforcing health and safety regulations, promoting safe practices, and ensuring environmental compliance in line with hazardous material handling and process safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments, especially in high-temperature and chemical-handling zones. Monitor and manage fire safety systems, emergency preparedness, and chemical spill response protocols. Oversee proper storage and handling of raw materials like coal, coconut shells, chemicals, and activated carbon products. Ensure compliance with statutory safety requirements (Factories Act, OSHA, PESO, Pollution Control Board, etc.). Conduct regular safety drills, induction training, and toolbox talks for employees and contractors. Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive measures (CAPA). Maintain records of safety incidents, near misses, MSDS, permits, and EHS documentation. Liaise with government bodies and external auditors during inspections and regulatory visits. Promote a culture of safety awareness and environmental responsibility throughout the workforce. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Industrial Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field. Safety certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, ADIS, or equivalent are highly preferred. Minimum of 2 years of safety experience in a chemical, carbon, or process-based manufacturing facility. Familiarity with handling hazardous substances, dust control, explosion prevention, and waste management. Strong understanding of safety compliance, EHS regulations, and reporting protocols. Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills. Salary is negotiable.
