As a Network Engineer at financial.com AG, your mission involves planning, designing, and maintaining the intercontinental network across six global locations. You will be responsible for optimizing the data center packet-switching infrastructure for reliability, low latency, and high throughput. Ensuring network security using OpenBSD firewalls and managing customer connections via leased lines and VPNs will be part of your daily tasks. Additionally, you will develop and enhance automated network configuration tools using 100% open-source software like Ansible and Python. Participation in a rotating on-call system, approximately one week in five, will be required and fully compensated. You will also assist in maintaining a fleet of approximately 600 Linux servers (Debian 12, CentOS 8) and have the opportunity to expand your expertise by learning technologies such as Kubernetes and Puppet. To excel in this role, you should have programming experience in at least one scripting language, ideally Bash, Perl, or Python. A strong knowledge of Linux and networking, along with proficiency in command-line operations, is essential. Experience with tools like Icinga, Puppet, Hiera, Linux KVM, Git, Facter, Ansible, or MySQL is desirable. Proficiency in monitoring tools, switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers is also required. Several years of experience in similar environments will be beneficial for this position.
