Job Title: Director Semiconductor Fabrication Facility Design (HVAC, Process Utilities, Cleanrooms) Position Overview: The Director Semiconductor Fabrication Facility Design will lead the strategic planning, detailed design, and technical execution of advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities, with a specialized focus on HVAC systems, process utilities (ultrapure water, specialty gases, chemicals), and cleanroom environments . This role is responsible for ensuring the infrastructure supports high-volume, high-yield semiconductor production and complies with rigorous industry and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities: Facility Design Leadership Lead design strategy and implementation for semiconductor fabs, focusing on Class 11000 cleanrooms , HVAC systems , and process utility delivery (water, gases, chemicals, exhaust). Translate manufacturing and process equipment requirements into scalable, efficient facility design plans. Ensure integration of cleanroom architecture with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. Process Utilities & Environmental Systems Oversee design and commissioning of: HVAC & filtration systems (temperature, humidity, particulate control) Ultrapure water (UPW) , wastewater treatment , and reclaim systems Bulk and specialty gas delivery (N, H, Ar, CDA, silane, ammonia, etc.) Chemical distribution , acid waste neutralization , and exhaust scrubbers Coordinate closely with process engineering teams to align facility design with tool sets and production flows. Project Execution & Oversight Lead cross-functional teams of internal engineers and external consultants (A&E firms, EPC contractors). Manage capital project planning, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and design reviews. Conduct value engineering and risk assessments across mechanical and cleanroom systems. Ensure compliance with SEMI standards (e.g., S2, S8), ISO 14644, local building codes, and EH&S regulations. Qualifications: Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred) 18+ years of experience in semiconductor fab design or construction , with deep exposure to HVAC and utility systems Proven leadership on large-scale greenfield or brownfield semiconductor or pharmaceutical cleanroom projects Strong familiarity with design software and modeling tools (AutoCAD, Revit, CFD, BIM, etc.) Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of: Cleanroom airflow and contamination control Critical utilities: UPW, CDA, process cooling water (PCW), vacuum, gases Exhaust and abatement systems Hazardous chemical and gas handling infrastructure Strong understanding of cross-discipline dependencies (process tools, automation, EH&S) Preferred Qualifications: PMP certification or equivalent project management experience Experience with global fab standards (Intel, TSMC, Samsung, GlobalFoundries, etc.) Familiarity with LEED or sustainable facility certifications
