Job Title: Fabric Manager Job Overview: The Fabric Manager is responsible for sourcing, selecting, and managing fabric collections to meet the needs of design and brands. This role requires a keen eye for trends, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to manage relationships with suppliers and mills. Key Responsibilities: 1. Fabric Sourcing: o Identify and source fabrics from various suppliers, both domestically and internationally. o Develop and maintain a network of fabric suppliers. o Stay updated on the latest fabric trends and innovations. o Create a database on fabrics for domestic and international markets. 2. Product Development: o Collaborate with designers and product development teams to understand fabric requirements. o Provide fabric options that align with design aesthetics and cost requirements. o Coordinate with mills and sources for new development of fabric samples/ swatches. 3. Inventory Management: o Manage fabric inventory to ensure adequate supply for production as per the business/client needs. o Monitor fabric stock levels and reorder as necessary. o Conduct regular inventory audits and manage discrepancies. 4. Quality Control: o Inspect fabric deliveries to ensure they meet quality standards. o Address and resolve any quality issues with suppliers. o Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. 5. Cost Management: o Negotiate pricing and terms with fabric suppliers. o Prepare cost estimates and budgets for fabric procurement. o Track and manage fabric procurement costs to ensure alignment with budget. 6. Relationship Management: o Build and maintain strong relationships with fabric suppliers and vendors. o Communicate effectively with internal teams, including designers, product developers, and merchants. o Manage vendor performance and address any issues that arise. 7. Documentation and Reporting: o Maintain accurate records of fabric libraries with relevant information, fabric orders, deliveries, and inventory. o Prepare regular reports on fabric sourcing and costs. o Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible. Qualifications: • Education: Bachelor's degree in Textile Management, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field. • Experience: 4-6 years of minimum experience in fabric merchandising in a mill or a related role in the textile industry. • Skills: o Strong knowledge of different types of fabrics and their properties. o Excellent negotiation and communication skills. o Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. o Proficiency in inventory management systems and software. o Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working with domestic & international suppliers and mills. • Knowledge of textile manufacturing processes.
