Design, build, and maintain new backend services providing high-performance, high-availability APIs to frontend developers, mobile client teams, and external partners. Create new services and extend existing services in our large-scale microservices and SOA architecture. Conduct unit, functional, integration, and other forms of automated testing. Ensure performance and scalability goals are met to support continued growth. Participate in service and component ownership, including potential on-call duties. Create documentation to enable self-service usage of developed services. Engage in internal customer outreach, advocacy, and support. What Are We Looking For Excellent coding skills in Java or demonstrated ability to learn and advance rapidly in programming languages and environments. Prior experience implementing RESTful services with APIs in a massively scalable cloud environment and working within Agile teams. Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in AWS. 5+ years of experience with an engineering degree in Computer Science or a related field. Strong object-oriented design ability. Excellent communication skills to convey ideas clearly and concisely within the team and in code documentation. Strong troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges. A passion for continuous learning, creative problem-solving, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Bonus Points (Nice to Have) Experience working with CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with Python and Scala. Experience working with containers and AWS deployment pipelines. Knowledge of functional design patterns, Kafka (or other message bus/distributed log infrastructure), NoSQL, and/or SQL databases.
