The role of Research Intern at Weir Minerals in Bangalore offers a unique opportunity for individuals looking to apply their academic knowledge to practical challenges in the field of research and development. As part of the Weir Advanced Research Centre team, you will be involved in testing the physical properties of polymer materials using a fundamental approach. Your responsibilities will include experimental validation of products and processes, technology scouting, product research, and the preparation of Design of Experiments (DOE). This role will provide you with hands-on experience in cutting-edge research and development in a dynamic and innovation-driven environment. This position is a 6-month contract and is suitable for individuals who are currently pursuing studies in mechanical, electronic, mechatronics, or materials-related engineering, or have recently graduated in one of these fields. As a Research Intern at Weir, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and testing of mechanical and mechatronic systems, thereby contributing to innovative engineering solutions. You will also be involved in supporting ongoing engineering research projects through experimentation, simulations, and data analysis to validate concepts and improve processes. Additionally, you will participate in the assembly of prototypes and conduct performance evaluations to assess functionality and reliability. Collaboration with electrical and software engineers to integrate multidisciplinary insights into research and development efforts will be a key aspect of this role. Your responsibilities will also include documenting experimental procedures and results accurately, preparing technical reports, and presenting findings to the engineering team. To be eligible for this role, you should be currently pursuing a Masters degree (ME/M.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Electronics, or Mechatronics. A solid understanding of core engineering principles, practical experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), basic proficiency in CAD tools, familiarity with computer programming, hands-on experience using engineering instruments, and knowledge of mechanics of materials are highly desirable. You should also have the ability to perform and apply engineering calculations in practical settings and understand automation and experimental programming.
