We are looking for a Financial Accountant to support a global technology company. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the accounting processes related to Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and Inventory, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure accurate, compliant, and insightful financial reporting. This is a 12-month contract, 40 hr/week; hybrid role with 2 days onsite at the client's office in Pune, India. Responsibilities Oversee daily operations and month-end/quarter-end/year-end close processes for Inventory GL and COGS accounting. Prepare monthly journal entries, metrics, and close reports in Oracle. Analyze and explain COGS variances such as PPV (Purchase Price Variance), IPV (Invoice Price Variance), and Accruals vs Actuals. Review item cost reports weekly to ensure no zero-value inventory items are present. Collaborate with the Supply Chain team on standard cost updates and system changes. Monitor inventory transactions, including purchases, usage, and scrap; analyze trends and anomalies. Prepare monthly accounting for Inventory Reserves and Deferred COGS using the "Change in Inventory" methodology. Review P&L and balance sheet GL accounts and provide flux commentary to senior management. Support Spare Parts and other inventory reconciliations during close cycles. Ensure SOX and GAAP compliance in accounting methods and internal controls. Assist in statutory and internal audits across multiple entities and geographies. Participate in process improvement initiatives and documentation standardization projects. Provide relevant, timely data and reporting to senior leadership. Support cross-functional and cross-regional collaboration initiatives. Perform other ad hoc projects, including backup support for COGS, spare parts inventory, royalty, and AR Close. Requirements 4+ years of accounting or financial analysis experience in a high-tech company.
