An Interior Designer lead can work on any/all phases of development including Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration. Ability to draw custom furniture, design elevations and floor plans to scale in AutoCAD. Job Description: We are seeking a creative and skilled Furniture Designer with a strong knowledge of design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing furniture pieces for residential or commercial use. This role involves collaboration with engineers, carpenters, and clients to bring unique furniture concepts to life. Responsibilities: Design and develop custom furniture concepts based on client requirements and project briefs. Use design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar tools to create detailed drawings, 3D models, and blueprints. Research trends in furniture design and materials to create contemporary, sustainable, and functional pieces. Select appropriate materials, finishes, and upholstery that align with the design vision and project goals. Collaborate with production teams, including carpenters, fabricators, and manufacturers, to ensure designs are executed accurately and within budget. Adjust designs as needed based on production limitations or client feedback. Prepare technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing, ensuring all designs meet safety and ergonomic standards. Oversee prototyping and sample production to ensure the final product matches the design specifications. Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and technological advancements in furniture design and production. Maintain a portfolio of completed projects to showcase design capabilities. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Furniture Design, Industrial Design, or related field. Proven experience in furniture design (3-5 years preferred). Strong knowledge of design principles, including aesthetics, proportions, and functionality. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, or similar. Knowledge of various furniture materials, including wood, metal, plastic, and upholstery fabrics. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present design concepts and ideas. Attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Understanding of ergonomics and sustainable design practices is a plus. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with custom furniture or high-end design projects.
