As a Senior Resident in Neurology, you will be responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with various neurological conditions. You will work closely with other medical professionals in both inpatient and outpatient settings, providing comprehensive care to patients with acute and chronic neurological disorders. Key Responsibilities Clinical Care Evaluate and manage patients with a wide range of neurological conditions, including stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, neuromuscular disorders, headache disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases. Conduct thorough neurological examinations and interpret diagnostic tests such as MRI, CT scans, EEG to formulate individualized treatment plans. Manage acute neurological emergencies, follow up on patients admitted under neurology services, and provide ongoing care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Inpatient and Outpatient Care Inpatient Care: Handle neurological emergencies, conduct consultations, and monitor and follow up on patients admitted for neurological services. Outpatient Care: Perform initial assessments, provide ongoing care, and track the progression of chronic neurological conditions. Multidisciplinary Collaboration Collaborate with specialists in neurosurgery, neuroradiology, psychiatry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to provide holistic care to patients. Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions to ensure comprehensive treatment plans and coordinated care. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures Assist or perform various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including: Lumbar punctures for cerebrospinal fluid analysis. Electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS) for neuromuscular evaluation. Botulinum toxin injections for conditions like chronic migraines or dystonia. Deep brain stimulation programming for Parkinson's disease and movement disorders. Seizure Management Provide care for patients with epilepsy, including the diagnosis and management of seizures. Prescribe antiepileptic medications and assess eligibility for surgical intervention when appropriate. Offer counseling to patients and families on seizure safety and management. Stroke Care Participate in the acute management of stroke patients, including the administration of thrombolytic therapy (when appropriate). Develop and implement stroke prevention strategies and create rehabilitation plans for post-stroke recovery. Qualifications Educational Requirements: MD in Neurology or equivalent from a recognized institution. Experience: Previous experience in neurology, preferably in a clinical residency setting. Skills: Strong diagnostic and clinical skills in neurology. Expertise in neurological examination, interpreting imaging studies (MRI, CT), and managing neurological emergencies. Ability to perform procedures such as lumbar punctures, EMG, NCS, botulinum toxin injections, and deep brain stimulation programming. In-depth knowledge of epilepsy management, including the use of antiepileptic medications and surgical options. Experience in stroke management, including the use of thrombolytics and post-stroke rehabilitation planning.

You will be joining GKNM Hospital in Coimbatore as a full-time Pediatric Neurologist with the option for remote work. Your primary role will involve diagnosing and treating neurological conditions in children, focusing on areas such as epilepsy and EEG. Your daily responsibilities will include conducting patient consultations, performing assessments, ordering diagnostic tests, and creating treatment plans. To excel in this position, you should possess Pediatric Neurology and Neurology skills, expertise in Epilepsy management, and experience in EEG interpretation. A medical degree with a specialization in Pediatric Neurology is required, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective patient care. While board certification in Pediatric Neurology is preferred, previous experience working in a hospital setting will be beneficial.
