You will play a crucial role as a Solution Test Automation Engineer at Ciena, where your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain an automation suite for both current and next-generation packet software, covering a wide range of CIENA's networking products. This role offers you the exciting opportunity to contribute to the innovation and development of new technologies that will shape the future of Next Generation networks. As part of the team, you will collaborate with engineers across different teams to ensure the quality and reliability of the features. Your key responsibilities will include automating solution test plans to validate product capabilities, executing automated regression suites, and reporting test results using Quality Center (QC). You will also need to build a deep understanding of the product architecture, troubleshoot issues effectively, and coordinate activities with test and development teams in North America when required. Additionally, you will be expected to review FS and test plan/scripts, possess detailed knowledge of Carrier Ethernet products, and quickly adapt to new technologies and concepts. To excel in this role, you must have proficient troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, a team-oriented approach, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to understand customers" needs and expectations. You should be adept at multitasking, possess excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), and demonstrate a strong commitment to product excellence and quality. Furthermore, you should be able to quickly grasp advanced concepts and methodologies, contribute to process improvements, and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions on complex topics. The ideal candidate for this position should hold a BE/B.Tech. (EE/CS) degree with around 10 years of relevant experience in the telecommunications, test, and automation domain. Hands-on experience with at least two of the following networking protocols is essential: Carrier Ethernet, MPLS, G.8032, OAM (BFD, CFM, EOAM, AIS), BGP, ISIS, OSPF. Proficiency in Python is a must, along with experience with Ixia traffic generators and preferably with IxNetwork. An understanding of AI and ML concepts would be considered advantageous.
