As the Head of Environment at Vedanta, you will be responsible for developing strategies that align with global standards, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and working towards Vedanta's vision of sustainable development with a focus on Zero Harm, Zero Waste, and Zero Discharge. **The Opportunity:** - Lead the delivery of the environmental strategy and policies by designing and implementing comprehensive initiatives that support the overall HSE strategy. - Track and monitor environmental legislations and compliances, ensuring best practices are followed, and regularly review risks and opportunities facing the businesses. - Develop competency across the Group in topics related to statutory requirements, biodiversity, waste, water/energy utilization, tailings, etc. - Undertake impact assessments to evaluate the implications of new environmental legislation, identify environmental risks, and recommend management plans and KPIs. - Benchmark the Group's performance with peers and facilitate the setting of Group-level environmental targets. - Regularly evaluate and update the performance to Group Ex-Co & Sustainability Committee. - Drive process improvements and ensure timely external disclosures related to SR, DJSI, CDP, TNFD, etc., relevant to our sector with the aim to be a leader in the ESG space. - Digitalization of MIS, system, and processes across Vedanta. - Make decisions related to the formulation and documentation of environmental policy, standards, strategy, and vision at the Group level. Handle clearances for expansion projects and advocacy as needed. - Drive improvements to the governance of the environmental function across the group, including enhancing audit protocols and ways to improve the implementation of environmental requirements. **Desired Candidate:** - Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or Post Graduation in environmental science/management. - Over 15 years of experience in the environment and sustainability domain. - Exposure to global best practices in the natural resources sector (across Oil & Gas and Metal & Mining) or in a large manufacturing setup. - Strong background in Operational Excellence, HSE commitment, Global Benchmarking, Technology, and Digitalization. - Knowledge of environmental legislations and pollution prevention tools and techniques are required.,
