As a Senior Associate Facilities Design Specialist at NTT DATA, you will be a developing subject matter expert responsible for supporting the design and planning of the physical infrastructure and systems of data centers/facilities. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that facilities are designed to meet operational and performance requirements while adhering to industry best practices and standards. Your key responsibilities will include leading and overseeing the design and layout of data center/facilities, assessing current and future capacity needs, choosing appropriate equipment and systems for power, cooling, and environmental control, implementing energy-efficient design principles, designing systems with redundancy for high availability, ensuring compliance with industry standards, balancing design requirements with cost considerations, collaborating with cross-functional teams, creating detailed design documentation, and identifying and mitigating potential risks related to the data center/facilities design. To excel in this role, you will need to develop proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools, understand industry trends and emerging technologies, enhance your project management skills, possess good communication and collaboration skills, and have the ability to analyze complex technical challenges and develop innovative solutions. The academic qualifications and certifications required for this role include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Design, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field, as well as data center specific design certifications such as Certified Data Centre Design Professional (CDCDP), Data Centre Energy Practitioner (DCEP), or Certified Data Centre Management Professional (CDCMP). You should have a moderate level of experience in facilities design and planning, data center infrastructure, power and cooling systems, working in facilities environments or technically sophisticated project types, and with new construction, tenant improvements, and capital improvement projects. Additionally, experience with CSA and MEP systems development and educational background in Architectural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering would be a plus. Key Responsibilities: - Leading and overseeing the design and layout of data center/facilities, including server rooms, cooling systems, power distribution, fire suppression, and security systems. - Assessing current and future capacity needs to ensure the data center/facilities can accommodate the growth of IT equipment and infrastructure. - Choosing appropriate equipment and systems for power, cooling, and environmental control, meeting efficiency, redundancy, and scalability requirements. - Implementing energy-efficient design principles and technologies to reduce power consumption and environmental impact. - Designing systems with redundancy to ensure high availability and fault tolerance. - Ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations in data center/facilities design. - Balancing design requirements with cost considerations, including capital expenditures (CapEx) and operational expenditures (OpEx). - Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of data center systems. - Creating detailed design documentation, including architectural drawings, specifications, and equipment lists. - Identifying and mitigating potential risks related to the data center/facilities design. - Performing any other related tasks as required. Required Experience: - Moderate level of experience in facilities design and planning. - Moderate level of experience in data center infrastructure, power and cooling systems, and IT equipment. - Moderate level of experience working in facilities environments or other technically sophisticated project types. - Moderate level of experience with new construction, tenant improvements, and capital improvement projects. - Moderate level of experience in CSA and MEP systems development; Architectural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering education or experience is a plus.
