Environment Generalist

As an Environment Generalist, you will be responsible for creating high-level and diverse 3D environments for use in live-action VFX. Your key responsibilities will include assessing the most efficient methodology per environment brief, which may vary from 2.5D Matte Painting projection setups to full 3D asset builds. You will provide and acquire photographic reference materials, perform tasks related to integrating imagery into shots while maintaining a unified sense of lighting, perspective, and color. Your role will involve utilizing photography, practical, and digital skills to create 3D environments, revising work based on client and supervisor feedback in a timely manner, as well as providing and receiving artistic and technical direction. To excel in this role, you are required to have a minimum of three (3) years of previous experience as a Digital Matte Painter or Environment Artist for live-action feature and/or television. A strong understanding of 3D packages like 3ds Max, Maya, and Houdini, as well as 2D/Shading packages such as Substance and Adobe Photoshop is essential. Knowledge of supplementary software including ZBrush, Gaea, and SpeedTree is also strongly recommended. Proficiency in Matte Painting, 2.5D projection skills, compositing, and scripting experience will be advantageous. You should demonstrate a strong willingness to grow, learn new methods & tools, and share knowledge with others. Additionally, you must be able to work independently to solve technical issues, take direction positively, work well within a team, and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential for success in this role.
