Job Description

Job Description: As a Data Engineer at CDM Smith, you will be part of the Data Technology group within the Digital Engineering Solutions team. You will play a key role in driving strategic Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) initiatives by leveraging cutting-edge data technologies and analytics to deliver actionable business insights and robust solutions for AEC professionals and client outcomes. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines, automating workflows for efficiency, testing data quality and integrity, monitoring and troubleshooting data pipeline performance, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions, and staying updated on the latest developments in data technology. Key Responsibilities: - Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and workflows for ETL/ELT processes. - Contribute to automating workflows to ensure efficiency and error reduction in data integration. - Test data quality and integrity to validate completeness, accuracy, and consistency. - Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and reliability. - Document data engineering processes and workflows. - Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analytics Engineers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions. - Stay abreast of the latest developments in data technology and tools. - Assist in developing documentation, standards, and best practices for data technology. Skills and Abilities: - Proficiency in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile Development methodologies. - Familiarity with Cloud ETL/ELT tools such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics. - Strong knowledge in data modeling and designing scalable ETL/ELT processes. - Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data solutions. - Knowledge of monitoring tools and techniques for pipeline observability and reliability. - Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills. - Effective communication of complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. - Detail-oriented with the ability to work on highly complex projects. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree. - 0-2 years of related experience. - Equivalent directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
