What would you do? We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Analyst with strong skills in CAD drawing interpretation and GIS data updates to support the improvement of electricity distribution asset records. The role focuses on reviewing and interpreting CAD-based as-built drawings to update GIS systems with accurate and traceable information on cable locations, joints, excavation routes, and installation details.This position plays a critical role in reducing safety risks, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring the GIS serves as a reliable system of record for planners, engineers, and asset managers.

What are we looking for?

Experience working with GIS and CAD data in a utilities, infrastructure, or engineering environment.

Proficient in interpreting CAD drawings (e.g., AutoCAD)" with emphasis on civil or distribution layouts.

Strong hands-on experience with GIS software such as ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.

Solid understanding of spatial data accuracy, coordinate systems, and topology rules.

Familiarity with asset-related data capture, QA/QC processes, and data management standards.

Knowledge of electricity distribution network assets and infrastructure terminology.

Experience with CAD-to-GIS data migration workflows or tools (e.g., FME, AutoCAD Map 3D).

Exposure to asset management systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo) or work order systems.

Understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) risks related to asset data quality.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Interpret and extract relevant asset data from CAD-based as-built drawings (e.g., AutoCAD).

Identify and digitizeoCable routes and depths oJoint locations and types oTrench/digging areas oAs-built annotations (e.g., installation date, contractor, project references)

Update GIS systems (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS) with validated spatial and attribute data.

Reconcile legacy records with current field data and CAD drawings to improve completeness and accuracy.

Apply data standards and business rules to ensure consistent asset mapping across regions

Collaborate with engineers, GIS specialists, and construction teams to resolve data discrepancies.

Maintain detailed documentation and audit trails of updates for traceability.

Support initiatives to automate and streamline CAD-to-GIS data integration workflows where applicable.
