Engineering Manager, Applied AI

As an Engineering Manager at Motive, you will lead and grow the Applied AI team, focusing on developing intelligent, agentic experiences that automate and optimize physical operations. Your role will involve: - Providing engineering leadership to build the next generation of AI agents for physical operations. - Offering domain expertise and technical intuition to guide system architectures and product roadmaps. - Ensuring product reliability, code quality, and robust testing for agentic systems. - Mentoring and growing a high-performing engineering team through hiring, onboarding, and career development. - Collaborating with various teams to deliver strategic objectives that redefine industry standards. - Guiding the team in making tradeoffs and prioritization decisions to deliver user value efficiently. Qualifications we are looking for in an ideal candidate include: - Experience managing engineering teams delivering complex AI/ML products at scale. - Strong product intuition and a focus on user experience excellence in agentic or automated systems. - Familiarity with the full AI product stack and hands-on technical experience with frontier models. - Excellent collaboration and communication skills for effective coordination across teams. - Strong organizational skills to manage and deliver parallel technical projects. - 8+ years of software development experience, with significant time in AI/ML domains. - 2+ years of engineering management experience, including recruiting and retaining top talent. Bonus points if you have experience with agent-based systems, MLOps, real-time data processing, IoT/embedded systems, or multi-modal models.
