The Senior Principal Instrument & Controls Engineer is responsible for resolving unique and complex problems that have a significant impact on the business. As a specialist in the field of Instrumentation & Controls, you are expected to proactively identify and solve complex problems that affect the management and direction of the business. Your role involves offering a wide range of knowledge about the Engineering function, influencing the direction and resource allocation of programs and projects within your discipline. You must demonstrate conceptual and innovative thinking to develop creative solutions to challenges in Instrumentation & Controls. Key Responsibilities: - Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and designs based on project specifications, design codes, and standards. - Develop reliable and cost-effective solutions for complex problems and challenges. - Manage your time effectively to meet objectives and forecast resource requirements when acting as Lead Engineer. - Develop and manage plans to achieve business objectives. - Clearly communicate highly complex ideas, anticipate objections, and influence outcomes. - Direct a large Instrumentation & Controls Engineering team as Lead Engineer. - Lead the Discipline engineering design of the assigned work area within the planned schedule and budget. - Ensure interfaces and deliverables are clearly identified and maintained at a high professional standard. - Interpret contractual requirements related to engineering execution and identify changes in scope promptly. - Interface with other departments and engineering disciplines to develop clash-free designs. In addition to these responsibilities, when acting as Lead Engineer, you will also be responsible for: - Acting as the project representative for the Discipline in meetings with various stakeholders. - Participating in project kickoff meetings, vendor meetings, and offshore site surveys as required. - Providing technical direction and review of Designers" work related to Instrumentation and Controls Engineering. - Assisting in procurement activities and ensuring compliance with project specifications and objectives. - Reviewing and approving vendor and subcontractor submittals, design reports, and procedures. - Providing leadership, mentoring, and guidance to other Engineers. - Supervising and guiding assigned engineers and coordinating with project Lead Designers for Discipline engineering deliverables. Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Engineering (Master's Degree preferred). - 20+ years of experience in oil and gas with major contractors or consultants. - Preferably a Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering society. - Detailed knowledge of design techniques, analysis methods, and applicable standards. - Excellent communication and presentation skills.
