Engineer /Lead- Routing & Switching protocol controlplane developer

Role Overview: As a Software Engineer at Ciena, you will be a part of the engineering team responsible for developing the Vyatta Network Operating System (NOS) to support customers in building and deploying virtualized networks. Your role will involve working on a legacy product while acquiring skills that will be transferable to the cutting-edge SAOS 10X platform. You will contribute to all stages of software development, troubleshoot software issues, design unit tests, collaborate with Product Owners, and influence software architecture. Key Responsibilities: - Develop embedded software on the Vyatta NOS, a modified Debian Linux operating system. - Participate in requirements analysis, architecture, design, implementation, and testing. - Troubleshoot software issues and provide customer and verification support. - Design and develop unit tests and test-automation suites. - Collaborate with Product Owners to incorporate new features and technologies. - Influence software architecture for enhanced resiliency, debuggability, and maintainability. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's/masters degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent with 3-7 years of relevant experience. - Familiarity with network merchant silicon chipsets and whitebox platforms. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and programming skills in C, C++, Python. - Experience in designing and developing L2/L3 networking technologies. - In-depth understanding of Linux OS and open-source software development. - Knowledge of software development for Data Forwarding paths. - Familiarity with manageability frameworks such as Yang/XML. - Experience with virtualization technologies like Intel DPDK, SR-IOV. - Proficiency in Atlassian tool suite, Git, and Jenkins. - Strong sense of ownership, teamwork, collaboration, and multitasking capabilities. - Openness to continuous learning, self-improvement, and excellent communication skills.
